Two Special Education Paraprofessionals

  Work Year:        10 Month employee (Full Year = 183 days)

   Start Date:         2019-2020 school year

   Hours per day:         6.5 hours per day

    Salary:        Range 7: $16.22-$17.84 p/hour, depending on experience

 

DESCRIPTION:       Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher/Case-Manager, classroom teacher(s), and School Site Administrators/Principal, the Inclusion Paraprofessional will perform necessary duties to assist in the planning and implementation of a program for special needs children in both special education and inclusive settings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  •        High school diploma.  Passing score on the proficiency test or possess an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or higher or have completed 48 college units.  Additional training in child development, special education, disabling conditions, or Autism Spectrum Disorder is desirable.
  •             Previous experience working with middle school/high school aged students.  Experience working with students with ASD preferred.  Inclusion experience preferred. 

Working Conditions:  First Aid and CPR required. New employees have thirty (30) days from the date of appointment to fulfill this requirement.

Position(s):      Substitute Special Education Paraprofessionals

Hours:             Hours vary; On-call; as-needed basis

Salary:             $15.62 per hour (Range 7, Step 1)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and the School Site Principal, the Special Education Paraprofessional will perform the necessary duties to assist in the planning and implementation of a program for special needs children in the classroom.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:       High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Passing score on the proficiency test or possess an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or higher or have completed 48 college units.

Experience:     One year of Child/Youth related experience or equivalent training.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Positions in this class perform work, which may include lifting, pushing and/or pulling which normally does not exceed 50 pounds, however, must meet physical requirements below.
  • Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend.
  • Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
