Special Education Teacher (Extra Curricular involvement preferred)

Credentials:    Valid California Secondary:  

  • Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Mild/Moderate and
  • Education Specialist Instruction Credential – Moderate/Severe Disabilities or
  • Specialist Instruction Credential – Special Education/Severely Handicapped
    • Must have Autism Authorization

Work Year:    185 Work days (180 School days plus 2 teacher work days and 3 In-service days; 7.5 hours per day)

Start Date:     2019-2020 school year.

Salary:            Appropriate placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule (Beginning: $55,927; Max: $89,212; Interns: 90% of base salary $46,475)

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree including courses needed to meet credential requirements and student teaching classroom experience.

LICENSES OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential as listed above.

    English Learner Authorization

    Successful passing score on the CBEST Exam.

Position(s):      Substitute Special Education Paraprofessionals

Hours:             Hours vary; On-call; as-needed basis

Salary:             $15.62 per hour (Range 7, Step 1)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and the School Site Principal, the Special Education Paraprofessional will perform the necessary duties to assist in the planning and implementation of a program for special needs children in the classroom.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:       High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Passing score on the proficiency test or possess an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or higher or have completed 48 college units.

Experience:     One year of Child/Youth related experience or equivalent training.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Positions in this class perform work, which may include lifting, pushing and/or pulling which normally does not exceed 50 pounds, however, must meet physical requirements below.
  • Requires the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend.
  • Requires vision (which may be corrected) to read small print.
